“D” Litter – Doc goes to Tulsa, Oklahoma!

Doc - Male Puppy - My kids called him Pupcakes!

Doc - Male Puppy - My kids called him Pupcakes!

Well this boy has quite a story.  This pup was scheduled to fly out of Newark, NJ and get a connecting flight in Houston, TX and then take a jet to Tulsa, OK.  We’ll it didn’t quite work out as easily as we had hoped, but he did make it safe and sound and with gusto.  Doc, the pup pictured above, missed his flight due to nasty weather conditions after he was scheduled to be on time.  We didn’t know this at the time since the aiport told us everything was on time.  His flight was delayed and unfortunately he didn’t make it to Houston in time to catch his connecting flight to make it to his new owners in Oklahoma.  Needless to say, we were frantic and scared for our little pup.  Doc had to spend 24 hours at the kennel in Houston Airport!  We were so afraid he would get sick or have problems because we knew he only had one set of vaccinations and could be exposed to all kinds of things.  Our hearts just dropped thinking about it.

We finally did get through to the kennel at Houston to speak with a pleasant gal there who was caring for Doc.  She said she never saw a young pup at that age come running out of a crate so fast to jump on her and give her kisses like this dog.  She said he sure was a fiesty boy!  He was kenneled there next to a 4 month old GSD, so nice for him to have a little friend next to him to keep him comforted.

That next night, Doc was again transported by jet to Oklahoma where he met his new family.  Doc was overjoyed to see someone who was going to take him home and love him.  The new owner contacted us right away and let us know he was safe and he just immediately bonded with this family.  It was love at first sight!!!!!

Doc is doing great now in his new home and loving life on a cattle ranch in OK.  We  are thrilled to have him with such a loving family.  He will have one of the fullest lives I could hope for one of my pups.  He will be active on a  ranch doing what these dogs were bred to do – work, herd, and be the loyalist of companions!   We love you Doc and thank you Derrick and family for loving and making this pup a part of your life!

We expect to hear all about this pup in the future to see how he develops and what kind of potential he has out of this first time breeding with Arla and Hawk.  Doc, as a young pup, showed us that wonderful genetic obedience we look for in a pup, that strong attraction to people, eye contact, and confidence!   He also had an attraction to sheep – Yeah!  More to come on Doc soon . . . .

Today we took all 5 pups to Agway for a new experience away from the farm and for socialization.  They had so much fun and met lots of new people who came into the store.  We will definitely do this again as it was a very positive experience for them indeed.  They also did good in the car, which they haven’t been in that much.  We bought Cid a new collar since he grew out of his puppy collar and some treats and new toys.  I think the people at the store enjoyed them too.  Thank  you Agway!

Here are some much better photo’s of the pups that I took recently - these girls are dynamite!

Just having fun!

Cid - the big boy!

What can I say, Cid is Cid.  He is the the biggest pup in the group, very confident, very calm, but loves to work and could make a wonderful working prospect.  He loves to work for treats with such enthusiasm.  When he sees food, he’ll do anything for you – I have never seen him move so fast when food is near by.  Here he is above sitting for a cheerio!  He also loves the water!

All these pups are showing interest in the sheep, which is so nice to see.  It’s showing me that the strong herding genetics are coming through in Arla’s pups.  I will be interested to see how my son’s pup,  Delta,  does when we put her on sheep this coming Fall when she is big enough.

All four of these pups are great with the kids and love people.  A very social pack.  These dogs are great in the house, but also love to play outside with the big dogs, and with the kids.  They are pretty much potty trained now, know their names and some basic commands such as sit, down, and come!  Smart little pups.

Pups sneak upstairs!

Pups sneak upstairs!

This is picture is not that good, but it is a classic!  I came home one day to find no puppies in my expen.  They had all busted loose and found that climbing stairs was great fun and that it was exciting to run around in the bedrooms.  I heard what sounded like a  herd of buffalo running through my house and wondered what was going on – then suddenly it stopped and I heard some barking . . . . And there they were, all the pups just sitting at the top of the stairs waiting to be rescued!  They were just too darn cute!

If you want to see one of our past pups - click on the “Spiritdance Blog” on the side bar and see Caden von der Kleinen Wiese.  He is doing just about everything, tracking, schutzhund, herding, obedience.   It just shows the versatility of these dogs.

There’s nothing better than a GSD Puppy!

Tonight I had to take this precious picture of my son Will and his new puppy, Delta.  She is the sweetest dog and they just love each other.  They are just so good together.  I wasn’t sure how responsible he would be with a  puppy caring for her, but he has really proved himself to be a good caretaker.  He takes her out to potty, feeds her, takes her outside and plays with her and he has been good about taking her out to train for tracking.  I am so excited for him.

I just thought this was the absolute cutest picture.  My son is just so in love with this dog and I think someday they are going to be an awesome team together.

I think it is the greatest gift that we could give our son – Delta!  It is teaching him so much about responsiblity by caring for a puppy and it’s just beautiful to watch my son have such a faithful buddy that will always greet him with a big kiss.  I hope that my kids will both grow up to love these beautiful dogs as much as I do!

We have several pups still available for good homes.  All pups have wonderful outgoing personalities, solid temperaments, and nice structure.   Our dogs are from working lines and are built with more of the square build rather than with extreme angulation that you may see from some of the show lines.

Cid is a large male puppy who is very confident and a real pleaser.  He loves to work for food and knows sit, down, and come and he is even retrieving a bit.  A really nice boy with wonderful personality.  Cid did his first scent pad and did great – boy can he sniff – you can just hear him working the ground.  I think he is going to be a nice worker.
