Judging: SV Judge Herr Wilfried Scheld
This Saturday, October 9, 2010, the HGH Northeast herding club will hold their first HGH herding competition. This HGH trial will be run in the traditional HGH style with 200 plus sheep. SV Judge Herr Wilfried Scheld will judging the trial. There will be a number of dogs there who have trialed before and have titles, but they will be there competing to better their scores and support the HGH style of herding.
Note: HGH Northeast is the 2nd HGH Club to be formed in the United States. They are also members of the United Schutzhund Club of America.
The club welcomes all spectators who want to see this event and support it. If you would like more information, go to our sidebar at the right under HERDING and click on Geary Loff’s Herding Beaucerons. There you will find additional information.
Below are some pictures of past HGH (Herdengebrauchshund or Herding Utility Dog) dogs working a large flock of 200+ sheep.
Jumping in the pen to start the run.
Training a dog for this type of work requires a considerable amount of time and dedication. Saturday there will be many seasoned handlers as well as some very talented dogs. The course will consist of many elements. Some of the basic obstacles that will be judged are the exit and entrance of the pen, the traffic work, bridge work, and both the narrow and wide graze. The dog will also be judged on obedience, working independently, diligence, protection (at the end of the run) and the grip.
Breizh (Beauceron) is a full-time working dog at Kergloff Farm, Knowlton, NJ.

After the trial, we will post the results of this event. Looks like it is going to be lovely weather for the trial. I am still keeping my fingers crossed!
A special thanks to Kathy DiStaso for supplying me with some wonderful photos of her dogs and others who have competed at past events.
BEST OF LUCK TO ALL COMPETITORS!
